I was involved in a serious accident last year when the driver of a 2008 Chevy Malibu ran a red light and slammed into the driver side of my 2005 Mercedes-Benz R-Class at about 40mph. The curtain airbag and side thorax airbag deployed in my Merc but, the front airbags did not deploy in the Malibu. I was very shook up but, I mangaged to walk away with nothing more than minor cuts from the safety glass. The other driver had more extensive injuries to his chest, ribs, back, neck, etc, because his airbags did not deploy. GM is not at all interested to talk with him. I'm very thankful that I had taken safety seriously when purchasing that car. I'm currently driving a new Volvo XC70, which are also very safe vehicles.

My daughter was involved in a single car roller while driving our 2004 Volkswagen Passat GLX sedan. The car has allot of miles, however, very mechanically sound with nearly new tires. She tried to avoid a deer and lost control and rolled the car twice. The passenger side of the car had a collapsed roof and all the windows were knocked out. None of the airbags deployed including the side curtains.

My father died from the results of TBI 2 weeks ago after a car accident. He was driving a 2004 Toyota Prado Grande. Left the road and went along an embankment, then struck a pole causing the car to roll on its drivers side. The drivers side front wheel was ripped off and drivers window smashed. No curtain or side airbags deployed resulting in his head hitting the ground. A Toyota engineer has taken the 'black box' to investigate and the police are continuing their investigation into the matter. A person who has had schooling on the workings of airbags and has seen the damaged vehicle is surprised the airbags did not deploy considering the amount of damage to the drivers side quarter panel and the force necessary to rip the wheel completely off. My father was in a coma by the time paramedics arrived...so the crash you would think was substantial enough to warrant airbag deployment.

Last evening the woman in front of me stopped on a dime to avoid a dog, and I plowed into her car going 30 in a residental zone that was about to change from 25 to 35. Can't believe the neck, back and rib pain (from the seatbelt) but after xrays at the emergency room I was happy to find nothing broken.
The radiator however is broken and the front of the car - a single owner, 2010 Mercury Mariner - is trashed.
Why didn't my seatbelt deploy? Even the cop was surprised. I want to have it checked out and replaced if it is defective, but don't exactly trust Mercury to put in a good one after this.

my dad just got in accident this morning, he was hit in the drivers side and the car rolled over twice.no airbags deployed, all windows shattered car is totaled. Luckly he's ok, but I'm guessing he'll start feeling paint in a little bit. He was driving a 2003 ford focus
